New Changes in Policies for Applying 8a Certification

Apparently without notice, this past end of the week, SBA updated its General Login System ("GLS") to never again allow new 8(a) applicants to create a profile in GLS. This is so SBA can launch their streamlined and modernized 8a certification application process through certify.sba.gov. The certify.sba.gov platform is SBA's initiative to harmonize the certification interaction for all of its small business contracting programs -, for example, 8(a), woman-possessed small business, all small guide/protégé program, and HUBZone - into one web-based platform. In any case, this transition from BDMIS to certify.sba.gov for the 8(a) program affects both new and current applicants. New applicants: Without the ability to create another GLS account, new 8(a) applicants can never again access a 8(a) application in the BDMIS framework, and subsequently cannot right now apply to the 8(a) program.
